A message from Barbara Tichenor, Nelson County PVA

It has truly been an honor to serve as the Nelson County Property Valuation Administrator
since November 1997. I am a Nelson County native and graduated from Nelson County High School
in 1979. I began working as a deputy in the PVA office in September 1980 under former PVA
Joseph B. "Toby" Head and continued as a deputy for former PVA Harold Metcalfe until his retirement in 1997.
I have attended and completed educational classes set forth by the Kentucky Department of Revenue
and have earned the designations of Certified Kentucky Assessor (CKA) and Senior Kentucky
Assessor (SKA). I have served my district on the executive committee for the Kentucky PVA
Association. I am also a member of the Kentucky Chapter of the International Association of
Assessing Officers (IAAO).
I will continue to make a concentrated effort to improve every aspect of the PVA office. We have recently
upgraded our computer software and hardware systems and are continuously working to improve
technology with a strong focus on customer service. We offer a public records room with three public
access terminals for retrieval and printing of property information in Nelson County. We are in the
process of updating all of our property building photographs and sketches to a digital format.
We also continue to work on a new GIS (digital mapping) program.
The Nelson County PVA office was honored by the Kentucky PVA Association in 2009 with the
Outstanding Assessment Jurisdiction award that recognized improvements made in the services
our office provides the public.
As always, our main objective is to serve the citizens of Nelson County. Thank you for entrusting me
with that job. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to call, email me or stop by our office.
